A Taoist philosopher in Casentino

Shot in the Casentino forests in the heart of Tuscany, the documentary film recounts the philosophies and oriental arts that, for the past few years, have found a home here thanks to the Taoist philosopher Marco Montagnani studies. "The Dragon of the Mountain '', the title of the documentary, ranges from Chinese medicine to the study of martial arts, from the practice of meditation and qi gong, to work in the kitchen inside the temple and much more. We learn about all this during a long interview with Maestro Marco Montagnani who, a few years ago in Chiusi della Verna (Arezzo), opened the Temple of the Six Harmonies. "With simplicity and comprehensibility, through images shot at our temple during the activities we usually carry out, we have finally managed to talk about a story that also reveals many aspects of oriental disciplines and which, for many, are taboo subjects ".

The Mountain Dragon. A film by Giulia Brazzale; produced by Esperimentocinema with the special appearance of the actress Daria Baykalova; executive producers, Studio VG - Management & Public Relations; Creative Director, Ugo Verticchio. It was shot, as above mentioned, in Chiusi della Verna (Ar) in the heart of the Casentino Forests, where the Maestro Marco Montagnani for some years has a temple where he practices some of his techniques.

In the documentary the Taoist philosopher talks about his life from when he was a child until he became a Master, then about his need to found his first temple (The Temple of the Six Harmonies) after having started his martial arts school thirty years ago. (The Centre for Oriental Studies of Vinci). The documentary wants to make people aware of the various aspects of the reality of oriental disciplines, all framed in an environment of uncontaminated nature, accompanied by a correct and healthy diet.

The Casentinesi Forest Park is the ideal place for meditation. Together with his students, Marco Montagnani took about two years to find a place that was sufficiently isolated, that had the right exposure to the sun and had an abundance of water sources. He then came across this place nestled in the Casentino forests, at an altitude of 1000 metres, in a wonderful valley called Vallesanta. The Temple of the Six Harmonies, which began here, is a place where it is possible to practice Taoism in all its aspects.

However, as the rules and discipline of an oriental temple are very strict and would have resulted in Westerners abandoning it, Marco had to adjust the typical approach. So he decided to begin his own method, which he defines as a sort of translator. In fact, he has translated what he learned from the traditional way into a more appropriate language that is accessible to Western people. This method is called Xiu Zhen Dao which means The Way to Find the Authentic and it is the very foundation of the Temple of the Six Harmonies.

That is, to try to bring human beings back to authentic things. In fact, in Taoism every type of study refers to nature, the principles of which are found in each of its disciplines.

Marco Montagnani is a Taoist philosopher, an expert in traditional Chinese medicine and Chinese nutrition. He describes himself as a simple traveller on the perennial journey of the path of life. Author of Wisdom Food (Il Cibo della Saggezza, Mondadori, 2020) and of Energetic Medicine (La Medicina Energetica, CEA, 2005). He holds courses and seminars for inner personal growth based on oriental philosophy at the Temple of the Six Harmonies which is situated in the Nuova Era Agriturismo in the heart of the Casentinesi Forests (in the province of Arezzo). Marco's intent is to help people become more mindful and improve their quality of life.
