Professor Dino Giuli opened the meeting introducing the most important aims which leads the scientific research activities of the PIN.
Professor P. Manzelli talked about e.commerce promotion in the Mediterranian area and about the possibilities Internet offers to the growth of the countries involved. Yet he counted the main problems in achieving e.commerce projects and stressed the necessity to build up a complex framework of people working together (Extended Enterprises Networking), located in different places, join many types of professionals, in order to create and redefine the Eumedis El BAB Project.
He concluded on the importance to start e.commerce programs which lead the economic growth of the SMEs.

For SMEs there are important difficulties that El BAB project can resolve:
Technical knowledge;
Logistical problems (transport etc.)
Legal consulting for instance: about legal aspect of sell between European countries and MENA countries (Middle Eastern and North African).
Reducing start up SMEs costs access Making SMEs highly visible
Successfully web-marketing BtB strategies: like "franchise-net"
Simplify the co-operation between Europe and MENA countries.

Next step will be to select the partners for the project especially non profit partners (for instance university Association of retailes, commercial chambres .) and SME's profit enterprises in many on the two sides of Buy and Selling strategic fields.
Mr.

M. Abbas Hassan agreed to the necessity to find out partners in the Mediterranean area to develop e.society programs and national/international trades. El Bab can be an important instrument for resolve this kind of problems. The emerging problem is to define the rules which the partner have to engage.
Mr. J. de Saja talked about the emergency to involve not only H&S enterprises (technology) but also the SMEs related to the other production sectors (turism, textile and such).
There is also a very clear gap and deep among the partner countries which means significant problems to achieve projects and the need to make an hard selection of the partnership.
Other participant underline that one of the most important factor to achieve the Eumedis Project is in the number of the partner involved in.
Other speaker of BRAIN Technology Communication is interested in the project in order to expand its own computer franchising company into the mediterranian countries.
Mr.

Enrico Ferrone of ALENIA spa said that is coming to observe the evolving way to join the project.
