IL FORUM SCOLASTICO

Il forum è uno degli eventi più importanti di una scuola perché è l’occasione per gli studenti di scoprire e imparare nuove attività.
Ma che cos’è esattamente un forum scolastico?
Un forum scolastico è un evento, organizzato dalla scuola o dai rappresentanti d’istituto, che prevede la sospensione della didattica curricolare tradizionale per qualche giorno, al posto della quale gli studenti partecipano ad attività diverse su vari argomenti come la musica, il cinema, il teatro e molto altro. Le attività sono condotte dai rappresentanti di associazioni o anche studenti stessi che vogliono condividere le loro passioni con gli altri studenti, sperando che anche loro possano trovarle appassionanti.Nella nostra scuola sono stati organizzati molti forum, negli anni pre-pandemia, che sono rimasti nella memoria di tutti gli studenti.
Però noi studenti di quarta superiore abbiamo i ricordi del nostro primo ed unico forum, ovvero quello dell’anno scolastico 2019/2020, durante il quale ci sono state molte attività tra cui scegliere. Una delle attività che noi abbiamo ritenuto più interessanti è stata quella durante la quale i presentatori hanno parlato della storia del RAP, che affonda le sue radici fin negli anni 70. I nostri compagni di classe hanno partecipato a molte altre attività, tra cui il corso di scacchi, il corso di giornalismo e il corso di Pronto Soccorso che è stato seguito da gran parte degli studenti.Da sottolineare che il forum scolastico non propone solo una didattica alternativa o, meglio, integrativa rispetto a quella tradizionale, ma è anche un’occasione per conoscere nuove persone ed instaurare nuove amicizie.
Secondo noi il forum serve moltissimo anche a “riconnettere” letteralmente gli studenti con la realtà vera, quella “analogica”, dalla quale ci allontaniamo quotidianamente a causa dell’uso e dell’abuso dei telefoni cellulari. Un evento del genere può farci prendere le distanze dalla visione di scuola che conosciamo, quella che punta ad istruirci in maniera tradizionale, ma ci fa anche aprire gli occhi su alcuni temi di attualità e ci fa scoprire meglio il mondo intorno a noi, grazie a nuove esperienze.Dopo tre anni di pandemia è tornata ora la possibilità di riorganizzare il forum nella nostra scuola, come in altre del territorio, così i nostri Rappresentanti d'Istituto hanno approfittato di questa possibilità per chiedere alla Dirigente di poterlo organizzare.
Ciononostante l’incontro tra la Preside e i Rappresentanti, a quanto ne sappiamo, non ha avuto esito del tutto positivo, dato che si è fatto osservare loro che nell’ultimo anno di forum la partecipazione degli studenti alle attività dei tre giorni di programmazione didattica alternativa non è stata regolare, cioè le “assenze” nella seconda e terza giornata sono state veramente eccessive, nel senso che molti studenti non hanno colto il vero valore dell’evento, trasformandolo banalmente in una vacanza fuori programma.
Per fare in modo che gli studenti partecipino tutti attivamente al possibile futuro forum, ci risulta che la preside abbia proposto di dividere i tre giorni di forum in tre mesi diversi. La proposta però non è piaciuta ai nostri rappresentanti che l’hanno trovata di difficile realizzazione, dato che l’idea originale era di un forum continuativo di tre giorni.
Noi anche pensiamo che svolgere il forum durante tre giorni consecutivi sia meglio perché rappresenterebbe un momento di effettiva interruzione della didattica tradizionale curricolare, mentre organizzarlo in tre giorni staccati, a grande distanza l’uno dall’altro, risulterebbe inutile, o quanto meno non sortirebbe lo stesso effetto. Per quanto riguarda nuove attività che potremmo svolgere, anche in base all’esperienza di forum di altre scuole, abbiamo pensato che potrebbe essere interessante svolgere incontri con influencer, per sensibilizzarci su alcuni temi riguardanti i social network e confrontarci con persone che conoscono bene la nostra generazione.
Si potrebbe aggiungere anche un torneo di nuoto presso la piscina delle Bagnese, oppure competizioni cinematografiche o di altro tipo che potrebbero insegnare agli studenti come creare video, oltre a migliorare e sviluppare le loro competenze digitali. Un’idea che ci era venuta, anche se sarebbe oggettivamente difficile da realizzare, è un futuro forum “allargato”, con la partecipazione congiunta di più scuole…
Tornando all’attualità, la situazione nelle altre scuole fiorentine è ben diversa, infatti in scuole come l’ITIS Antonio Meucci si svolgerà il forum per tre giorni di fila, mentre l’istituto tecnico e professionale Leonardo da Vinci non organizzerà niente.
Una scuola che purtroppo è nella nostra stessa situazione è l’ITT Marco Polo, che come noi ha svolto il forum nell’anno precedente alla pandemia e negli anni successivi non ha più organizzato niente.
In conclusione noi speriamo che il forum, prima o poi, possa realizzarsi nuovamente, meglio se in questo stesso anno scolastico!
THE SCHOOL FORUM
The forum is one of the most important events in a school, as it is an opportunity for students to discover and learn new activities.
But what exactly is a school forum?
A school forum is an event, organized by the school or by school representatives, which includes the suspension of traditional curricular teaching for a few days, in which students take part in various activities including different topics such as music, cinema, theater and much more. Moreover, these activities are led by representatives of some associations, or even by students themselves, who want to share their passions with their mates, hoping that they will find them exciting too.
Many forums have been organized in our school, in pre-coronavirus time, which all students still remember. But we, who are attending the fourth class, have the memories of our first and only forum, that was the 2019-2020’s one, during which there have been many activities to choose from. One of these, which we have found the most interesting, was the one in which the presenters talked about the history of rap originated in the 1970s, but we could take part in many other activities, including chess, journalism and first-aid courses.
We must underline that the school’s forum does not only offer an alternative way of teaching, but is also an opportunity to meet new people and build new friendships. In our opinion the forum is useful to “connect” the students with the reality, the “analogical” one, from which we daily get far away because of the abuse of the smartphone. An event like this can distance us from the concept of school we know, the one that has the goal to educate in the traditional way. It also makes us think about modern problems and better discover the world around us, and encourages new experiences.
After three years of pandemic, the possibility of making the forum in our school again came back, like in other schools of our city, so our Institute-representatives took advantage of this possibility to ask the Headteacher to organize it. Nevertheless the meeting between Her and the representatives, as far as we know, did not have a positive ending. It was pointed out that the students’ participation in the forum had not been regular in the previous years. To increase the number of participants, they decided that it would have been better to organize two consecutive days of assembly in March, April and May.
On the contrary, we think that making the forum during three consecutive days would have been better, because it would have represented an effective didactic break, while organizing more assemblies, separated the one by the other, is useless or is not as useful as the forum. Considering new activities we can do during it, and also what is done during the forums held in other schools, it could be interesting to have meetings and discussions with influencers, in order to raise awareness on the world of Social Networks, while interacting with people who know our generation perfectly.
A swimming competition organized by the pool of Bagnese could also be added to the program, or a cinematographic competition, or of any other type. These could be filmed, that would teach the students how to produce videos, also improving their digital skills. Another idea, which we think would be very interesting is a “wide” forum, where other Institutes would also take part, even though it is objectively really hard to realize.
Going back to actuality, the situation in other schools of Florence is different from ours. In some Institutes, like the Technical Institute Antonio Meucci the forum will be held for three consecutive days, while the Technical and Professional Institute Leonardo Da Vinci will not organize anything. A school that, sadly, is in our same situation is the Technical Institute for Tourism Marco Polo which, just like our Institute, saw its last forum during the year before the pandemic, not organizing anything in the years after.
To conclude, we hope that, sooner or later, the forum will be held again in our school!
